I welcome you to part 1 of my blog in which I will be discussing Zero-G's Mapping The State.
The Formal Framework Of Irish Government is found on the top left of Mapping The State. It details the interactions between the people, the government and the Oireachtas.
The people are found at the top. They directly elect the Oireachtas, European Parliament and local government. The European Parliament and the local government are accountable to the people.
The Oireachtas is made up The President, Dail Eireann and Seanad Eireann. The President appoints The Courts, Ministers and the Taoiseach. Dail Eireann directly elects Seanad Eireann, which in turn is directly elected by Local Government. The Dail also nominates the Taoiseach.
Today I am continuing my post concerning ''Mapping The State''.
The Government consists of ministers and the Taoiseach. The Government appoints ministers of state. Dail Eireann nominates the Taoiseach. The Taoiseach nominates ministers and ministers of state.
Outside the Government there is the courts, public service and ministers of state. The president appoints the courts. The courts are accountable to the Oireachtas. The public service is accountable to the Government and ministers of state.
